the Big picture

For some reason, every time we have tried family photos....
We end up with lots of those!
I don't know why because he is an absolute ham when I pull out my camera!  Exhibit #253-

But as soon as we get all cleaned up and that professional pulls out their camera......a very different child emerges!
I don't want to give up, I want millions of pics of my little man.
I was hopeful that this time would be different.
He is much older, more fun, and full of laughs and smiles.
We were also heading to one of his favorite spots...
the park!
Nope!
Uncontrolled screaming 55 minutes out of the hour shoot.
Seriously, we have no idea what the fit was about.
I don't see modeling in his future.
We were exhausted and disappointed with our wasted hour.
But once we received the finished product, completely impressed!
Great job Sarah!
I think she captured some great pictures that really show Trent's personality.
We vowed to NEVER do professional pictures again....
well, maybe one more try.....someday!
Hope you enjoyed!

More BIG and small animals!

Last weekend while in Wichita we hit the
Tanganyika Wildlife Park
It was super hot, even in the morning.
But we still managed to have a great time.
The best part about this park is the ability to get up close, even feeding and touching the animals.
Trent really liked feeding the giraffe, but wasn't so sure about the crock.
Sydney loved all the animals, but had to take cover from the heat about half way through.
One would think that because of his love of dogs, he might like goats?
NO!  HE SCREAMED IN FEAR!!
I guess those horns and big eyes can be a little creepy.
I didn't think that bunnies or tortoises  would be scary either....
but they were!
His absolute favorite was this cute little Lemur.
Worth the $1 for ONE dried cranberry to feed him!
Trent shook his head "No" at this little guy!
Sorry about the poor quality on the pics.  We all had camera issues, so Grandad saved the day and bought a disposable.
(You remember, real film...:)
Thanks Grandad!!

BIG boat...

of fun...
or not.....
These pictures are deceiving
of our first trip out
on the boat.

We have been so excited to take T-man out on the boat.
Finally we made it!
We thought for sure he would love it.
Since he does love water and outside.
But actually he was scared.
He did not like the waves.
He did not want to swim.
He screamed
the entire time.
I think he may have been a little motion sick too.
We decided to head in.
On the way in
he was suddenly not so upset.
So, maybe we will try again.......
Or maybe he just likes to hang at the crib with the binkies!
This was not the entire adventure...
before we left Jake found the boat to have a
dead battery
and
flat tire.
Both were fixed before heading out.....
thought we were safe....
until
the trailer fell apart
in the water
and the Bimini cover
broke off
in the middle of the lake.....
We are still having water issues at the new house....
So, this evening I have an offer-
3 for 1 Special---
FOR SALE
Baby, boat and house....
Anyone, anyone?

Just kidding

Life would sure be dull without them.

BIG animals!

Just when I thought our BIG crazy summer was slowing down
Jake reminded me late Thursday night
about the big
RODEO this weekend
How could I forget about the RODEO?
We love the RODEO!
We have been looking forward to taking Trent
for a long time
We knew he would love the animals!
And he did!
He carried on a very long conversation with this very
BIG horse!
He was serious as he studied all the moves
of the awesome
cowboys and cowgirls.

He loved being spoiled with all the great
junk food-
eating MY hot dog,
almost all our nacho cheese,
close to an entire can of lemonade,
a ton of water,
a bag of animal crackers
and
half a Twinkie.
(Yes, he did eat dinner about an hour prior to this!)
Although he does move pretty fast
with the bear crawl
this is one time we were happy
he can't walk yet.
He really wanted to go inside the arena.
Luckily we had a couple "Catch the baby" helpers!
Maybe next year buddy!
Maybe next year daddy!
I was disappointed in myself
for forgetting about the rodeo.
Next year Trent will have
FULL
cowboy attire.
Yes
these are the same hats
Jake and I have worn
for 7 years
of Rodeo.
We were so happy to have our newest little cowboy
join us this year!

BIG Bash weekend!

We have waited a full year
for our baby to turn one!
The big day finally came,
and boy was it fun!
Spoiled by family, friends and loved ones,
the gifts came by the ton!
This celebration was for all of us,
against the ups and downs of the past year,
we had won!
About the smash cake, he wasn't so sure,
as quickly as he started...
he was done.
The best part of all was finding time
for some fun in the sun!
Then give everyone a workout with my new bike
RUN RUN RUN!
The next morning we awoke
for the 4th celebrations,
we were wound!
An exciting start,
in our garage a turtle we found!
The rain that day tried to hamper our spirits,
but we were happy-
to the mall we did bound.
That night the neighborhood was crazy,
Crash!  Boom!  Lots of loud sound!
We all were exhausted from the big weekend,
even our poor little hound.
The kiddos were sleepy too,
they decided binkies should just go 'round.
Thank you everyone for making rockinbaby ryans first year so special!
