Zee-Zee!!!

Post-race
silly boy lunch!
Then off to the Denver Zoo.
This boy flipped out....
when he saw his life-size....

Zee-Zee!!!!
(his beloved giraffe,
he doesn't go anywhere
without his Zee-Zee!)

The next day I asked
Big Guy
what his favorite part
about the zoo was.
He said~
"When that bird stole that little girls popcorn! HAHAHA!"
(The Peacocks have free rein
and are afraid of no one.
They run and grab food out of strollers
as soon as the humans aren't looking!)

That evening we found
an amazing hotel,
and went to the fancy restaurant
with our crazy family.
They were exhausted,
and acting very zany.
So, I had to keep them occupied
while my (BEST EVER)
fillet with king crab legs
(its makes my mouth water
just thinking of it!)
was being prepared.
So, we made some phone calls....
Then Big Guy decided to
practice his photography.
"Mom, I need to take a picture of your arm!"
"OK...."
(I held this one!)
If you
of photography genius,
you can see
he is improving.
A little less ceiling, a little more....
people!

He wanted to get our
arms and legs....
don't know why!
But, he did it!

Why do baby boys
always get
the
BEST
eye lashes?!
~Speechless....~

After our awesome dinner,
it was back to the room
for a nice hot bath
(why is this so fun in a hotel?)
Then we all
"Passed out" as Big Guy
likes to call it!
That night was
Sweet Dreams!

Power Juice!

Big Guy
started his day off
with his own little run.
Then we were off to the start line
for our race together.
Luckily they had some ice cream,
the sugar seemed to perk him up,
or maybe he was just excited,
but he sure started acting silly!

Then we were off and running!

He was thrilled when he found out
there were pit-stops for
 water and snacks.
I love this grin!
The first time he got water.
At the next stop he asked for POWER juice!
The man working said,
"Oh yeah, Dude, I have the BEST power juice
just for you!
He was ecstatic!
He also thought it was awesome that
we threw our cups on the ground after getting a drink.
We even took time to throw some rocks.
(maybe that was his favorite part!)

I am so glad we were
able to complete this race
together.
What a wonderful Mothers Day~
spending time with my kiddo!!

T 9k Run!

We awoke on race day
to cool, cloudy weather.
We were up early,
drove to the Boulder Reservoir....
and Big Guy was ready for a nap.
He was grumpy, tired
and overwhelmed.
I told him I would take Sean instead if he didn't want to go.
We took some pre-race pics
while warming up (literally!)
I forget how much he really dislikes crowds.
At home he never stops talking,
but as soon as we are surrounded by masses
of people,
he goes into a shell.
I tried to be understanding,
and followed his lead.

But I was really hoping he would go with me!
Sure enough,
after hitting the ice cream samples,
he perked up
and was ready to roll!
He ran lots,
I even made him rest
when he really didn't want to.
The weather warmed up,
even too hot at times,
and the scenery was beautiful.

He learned to love having all the people around,
because they all complemented
his strength
and agility.

Almost to the finish!

6.1 miles,
1 hour 36 minutes!
Even with stopping for snacks, rock throwing
and picture taking.
As we ran through the finish
I kept telling him
how proud
I was
of him.
He did awesome!
I jumped up and down for him....
"YOU DID IT!!!"
His face lit up
with a smile so big,
it melted my heart.

Baby and Daddy
were worn out from all the cheering!
Even after the race,
he still had enough energy
to begin training
for next year.

Then came the bounce obstacle course.
He begged and begged.
So we went...
he got terrified
(I don't blame him,
I almost didn't make it over this wall)
got off,
then back on for the tunnel and slide.
Practicing for next year
when we run
and take Sean!
Thankful for my
super handsome cheering squad!
More to come.....
what did he like best about the race?

Boulder Bound

We finally made it to the mountains!!
He has been waiting and waiting....
I love his expression in the window!
"WHOA!"
\
When we arrived Saturday afternoon
it was cold and rainy.
I was worried about our race the next morning,
but these two
were so giddy,
I realized I couldn't waste time worrying,
and just enjoy our time together.
I don't know what it is about
hotel rooms,
but they sure bring out the
wild sillies!

They did FINALLY crash,
good thing
because race day
was coming up!

Time

This is my last week of working full time.
YIPPEEE!
I miss my Mommy time sooo much.
I feel left out of their lives
right now,
and want back in.
The good thing about working
so much is that
it makes you appreciate
the time you do have.
This weekend we packed full
family time.
Plenty of cuddles!
Saturday morning
my little track star awoke at 6am.
I asked him why he was awake so early.
He said
"We are going running!"
OK, sounds good!
So, we got our gear together,
I grabbed the jogging stroller
and he said
"Whats that for?"
I said,
"For you".
He replied,
"No, I am running".
(A couple of weeks ago the boy did run
1 mile, only stopping for short sips of water...
and once laying down
on the sidewalk
because
he "had to rest for a second".)
Because I was planning on 3 miles,
I told him in could run and ride,
when he felt like it.
He was OK with that.
Once again, he ran almost a mile!

Our run also turned into a grocery
(and donut) stop
before returning home.
He was eager to help daddy
in the yard.
And baby helped me!

After nap
we went shopping for flowers for our yard,
ate a Mexican Fiesta
for "Cinco-De-Mayo"
then,
swam!
The pool is already 80 degrees!
Hard to believe!
Daddy and Big Guy
enjoyed the water,
but Baby is still
pretty nervous.
By that evening he would put his feet in,
but that's all for now!
Sunday had a drastic change in temperature,
so after Church, lunch and nap,
we actually froze while planting flowers.
No swimming on that day!
Such simple activities,
but after those two days
I felt more relaxed,
content
and loved
than I had for a while.
We are looking forward to
our big trip this weekend.
Big Guys asks everyday
"When we going to Colorado
for our race?"
