The weather may
finally decide
to agree with the calender
and turn spring then summer,
so Trent finally
bought his new bike
with his
OWN savings!
I was worried
that he would want the money
back
after handing it to the cashier,
but he seemed to understand
the purchase
and it didn't hurt
he still had a stash
in his wallet!
First big boy bike
and first big boy purchase!
With those firsts
also came
the
LAST
day of school!
(5-14-13)
Wow, I can't believe
how much he changed
this year!
He really
grew up
and lost those
"baby cheeks" :(
He was a little excited,
(after I made him that way!)
Its funny because
kids don't realize what
many life events mean
until you teach them or they follow your lead.
He loved school,
so didn't understand
why I was getting so pumped
about the last day.
After I explained
that the last day of school meant the
first day of summer,
he said
"Well, then what mom?"
I replied,
"Swimming, the lake, camping
ice cream, baseball..."
His eyes got bigger and bigger,
as did his grin
and he wriggled around in bed
for a while, too excited to sleep.
The next morning,
getting ready for the last day of school,
he said
"Now we can swim!"
Well, maybe in a couple weeks!
(It was still chilly and pool was still freezing!)
His facial expression
was full of disappointment
like I had been lying to him
about this entire summer stuff.
He recovered fast
after I explained
it was still a little cool out
and we were
going to McDonald's for lunch.
Old McDonald's fixes everything!
Here's so a great summer!
