Summers beginning!

The weather may
finally decide
to agree with the calender
and turn spring then summer,
so Trent finally
bought his new bike
with his
OWN savings!
I was worried
that he would want the money
back
after handing it to the cashier,
but he seemed to understand
the purchase
and it didn't hurt
he still had a stash
in his wallet!
First big boy bike
and first big boy purchase!
With those firsts
also came
the
LAST
day of school!
(5-14-13)

Wow, I can't believe
how much he changed
this year!
He really
grew up
and lost those
"baby cheeks" :(
He was a little excited,
(after I made him that way!)
Its funny because
kids don't realize what
many life events mean
until you teach them or they follow your lead.
He loved school,
so didn't understand
why I was getting so pumped
about the last day.
After I explained
that the last day of school meant the
first day of summer,
he said
"Well, then what mom?"
I replied,
"Swimming, the lake, camping
ice cream, baseball..."
His eyes got bigger and bigger,
as did his grin
and he wriggled around in bed
for a while, too excited to sleep.
The next morning,
getting ready for the last day of school,
he said
"Now we can swim!"
Well, maybe in a couple weeks!
(It was still chilly and pool was still freezing!)
His facial expression
was full of disappointment
like I had been lying to him
about this entire summer stuff.
He recovered fast
after I explained
it was still a little cool out
and we were
going to McDonald's for lunch.
Old McDonald's fixes everything!
Here's so a great summer!

Race For the Cure 2013

Trent was excited to
get back into
racing with me!
He did very well,
ran a few sprints
and the last
half mile!

Go Bubba!
Oh, did I mention
he stopped just a few feet
shy of the finish line?!  :)
I was still so proud,
I had goosebumps!
(Sorry its so bumpy!)
It was perfect
that at the finish line
the FHSU tiger
handed him a bottle of water!
A good friend at work
fought and won
her fight this past year.
I can't believe
how many women
I knew
just this past year
that went through this.
We REALLY need
to find a cure!

She fought strong!
I never heard her complain,
taking off work for only
the days of Chemo.
(Her only complaint
were her menopausal hot flashes!)
After our 3.1 miles
Sean and Daddy met up with us
so the boys could do
the 50 yd dash.
We missed their age group,
so tagged along with
some older kids.
Trent sped off,
but Sean was scared,
even with me holding
his hand the entire way.
Funny, because all week
he was saying,
"Run with kids?"

Trent lasted about 30 secs.
Sean wanted
nothing to do with it!
Tattoos!
And lots of hugs.
(Sean was scared of all these things!)
A very fun morning!

HOT
on this day,
so we Daddy
opened the pool!
Still chilly water,
and hard to believe
it snowed
2 days after we opened it!
So, while waiting
for Mother Nature
to cooperate
completely,
we found
something else to do....
Hey,
who needs a pool
when you have
a spinning chair?!

Oh MY!

+ Got the room clean
opened one delivery containing
2 foam packing pieces=
- clean room
2 happy boys +
"It's snowing inside Mom!"
If you can't beat 'em
take their picture!

Ugh.....
oh well....
clean is over-rated....right?

We got the room clean,
time to head out
to get some groceries.
Grandma gave Trent
his own cookbook, he loves it!
But he wants to cook
something when we get home
at 6pm to bare cupboards.
(Somehow Daddy has made magic
happen twice and made recipes
by scrounging!)
But today,
Trent picked a recipe,
went to the store
and gathered all the ingredients.

They LOVE to cook!

He even insisted on the green grapes too!
What do you think?!
(We had to add black olives!)
GREAT JOB
big guy!
Super yummy dinner!

Circus!

We had a fun little
get-away!
at a great
brand-new hotel.

With the
best slide ever!

Had a great time
at the circus!

Enjoyed a cousin
elephant ride!

I was amazed that
Trent wasn't scared at all.

When he got back
up to his seat,
he acted like riding
that huge elephant
was no big deal!

It was also
a big deal when a tiger
escaped during the show.....
Justin was in the
hall,
the girls in the restroom...
the tiger trotted right by him...
and almost
came right up the steps
to our seats.
My heart was in my throat
the entire time.
But Justin said
the tiger
was more scared than
anyone else.
Like I always say...
never a dull moment!

Can you see the tiger on the loose?!
Beautiful, fun girls!

After a fun night
of music
and hanging out,
the next morning
was more swimming
then
we hit one of our favorite restaurants.
Played with our lunch...

and had a yummy meal!

Can't wait for our next
road trip!

1 Fish 2 Fish

I love the idea
of bringing books to life
with activities.
We started by reading
a Dr. Seuss classic,
I never realized how random this book is!
Then did some
coloring pages from the book.

Played a dice/matching/number game.
They enjoyed
the fact
that they got to eat the game pieces!

Then made our own
fish bowl!

yummy!

Everything was simple, educational
and kept us busy
for the day.
Can't wait to do another book!
