A Boys Path

By Tracey on Aug 18, 2013 06:00 am

What is it with boys?
So we are walking from the parking lot to the church entrance—simple enough. Or is it?
We are walking on the rock path and sidewalk. He is walking around the bushes and through the grass.
We are walking across the street. He is bouncing across the street “blasting” cars—woosh, pppssshhhwww.
We are again walking on the sidewalk. He is balancing on the curb, then walking on the mulch, then heading towards the rock wall.
Hubby says, “Come here and walk with us.” He falls in line beside his father and then proceeds to strut his way towards the door in sort of a half-penguin, half-ape saunter—all the while singing some happy little tune.
We all made it to church and enjoyed the service, but somehow I think he had the most fun getting there.  And yes, upon repeating much of the same process, returning back to the car.
Boys just do things … well, like boys.
So mom, let him.  And if you’re fortunate, he’ll rub off on you and you’ll balance on rock walls with him! (Yep, I did … heels and all!)
I read that article
a while back.
It made me laugh,
and realize
my boy are BOYS!
They always choose
to walk through the water,
in the mud,
on the rocks.
Sometimes I think
wow, they are crazy,
undisciplined kids!
Where is their mom?!
But then I read
an article like this,
from a Christian Blogger Mom,
and come to understand,
I need to JOIN them!
I see these paths
as dirty, mom difficult
and possibly dangerous.
They see fun,
challenge
and dirty!
Before I had kids,
I prayed and prayed
He would give me boys.
He did,
now I need to learn
to appreciate them more.
After going back and forth
about it for a couple of years,
we finally made the decision
to not have a third child.
There were pros and cons
but mainly,
I want to savor
the time I have with these two.
I don't want to miss
any milestones,
I want them
to have every opportunity.
Mainly,
I don't want to miss
a second because
they change so fast.
The daily
grind of parenthood
is not easy.
It is easy to wish time away.
Then, as I look back at pictures
and see these two sweet babies....

My heart aches
and I want those babies back.
I don't want to feel that way
about today.
Every day....all day....camo!
So,
we play army and cowboys
and board games
and hide-and-seek.
We run and run
and play in the dirt,
rough-house
and cuddle.
And,
I am thankful
they are more independent,
almost done with diapers
and sleep all night.
I will not look back...
I will follow their path.

FHSU BB

Want to know
the two biggest reasons
the boys love
going to FHSU games?.....
Treats!!

And running
on the stadium floor!

Watching the game
is something they
just kind of
put-up-with!

Toys

Jake has been slowly
bringing home
his old toys
to give to the boys.
For the boys,
these are the
BEST toys EVER!!!
Trent's quote~
"Mom, this is the BEST Daddy I have ever had!"
So, I had these
plans to build
a big cave
for the boys'
dragons.
So, I saved many boxes
over Christmas.
Then, I stumbled
upon a blog
where a mom
makes tons of stuff
out of cardboard!
Anyway, we got
a little more creative....
They played
with this
pirate ship for days!
And
it is still
(mostly)
in one piece!

Then, we had
to build
homes
for
Puppy and Zee-Zee.
I never knew how
many types of
duck tape there was!

And who doesn't like
an airplane?!

I have to admit,
building with
cardboard is FUN!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

New Years Eve
day was just another
normal day....
but when I picked up the boys
I started getting them
pumped up for a fun night!!
We picked up
pizza, pop
and the
standard party supplies!
They got really excited....
even though
I really don't think
they knew why!
Sean did good!
Crazy boys!
This pic
reminds me of
"Elf Yourself"!
They were
very tired,
actually asking to go to bed
around 7pm....
so
we got ready....

I found
the ball drop on TV
you-tube circa 2011...
(they still didn't really "get" what was going on!)
And we said
good-bye 2013
hello 2014!

Then all
craziness
broke loose!

They
became
super silly!
Happy New Year!
