Fearless

Jake and I are beginning a bible study class based on the book Fearless by Max Lucado.
Because we have not begun reading the book yet, I am not sure what it is about exactly, but it has already changed how I am looking at and thinking about life.
Jake recently commented about how amazing it is that every time Trent starts a new day, he is happy.
He smiles as we enter his room.
When we set him down, he kicks his legs, shakes his bottom and takes off across the floor like it is the first time, laughing all the way.
He looks at his toys with new excitment daily (the same toys over and over).
When he eats the same thing for breakfast every morning he gobbles it down with a "MMMM".
I feel so guilty when he hasn't left the house for a few days, isn't he bored? Isn't he sick of us?
NO!
I sing "The Wheels on The Bus" for the 200th time, he grins and shakes his head to be the "wipers".
When does our enthusiasm for life dwindle?
Why can't we wake up so excited for life?
Wouldn't it be great to be fearless?
To not worry so much and just be happy with oatmeal and bananas every morning?
I think I have lots to learn.
We are looking forward to reading and studying this book,

BUT

I think this little man is the biggest teacher we have.

Lets Play!

We have started going to a tiny tots play group every week. Trent loves to be around other kids, so we knew he would really enjoy going, and he does. Especially now that he can crawl. He just takes off across the gym floor stealing sharing toys. It really wears us him out and his little knees are so red afterwards, but he has a great time!
He is also now going to the nursery during church. Once he started crawling there was no way to keep him still for the entire service. It is so nice to be able to sit together during the service and actually listen fully again. Although, we are constantly holding our breath waiting for his number to flash on the screen, telling us to come get him! But, there is no more Sunday morning screaming, in fact I think it will become a favorite day for our family.

On the GO!

January has been a big month for Trent!
6 months old- I saw him sitting at his music table and start "dancing" to the music! Too cute~I was impressed!
6 months, 1 week- CRAWLING!!
3 days later-he pulled up onto his knees!
3 days later-pulled to standing! (only twice, but once again, impressed!)
I could not believe my eyes!
Wow, he is really determined to not sit around anymore.
I keep telling him, hey you are only 6 months old....not 9 months old!
But my parents reminded me that the first 3 months of his life (the constant arching, throwing of the arms and legs, squirming) made him strong. So, I guess in a way his first three months of bodily misery confinement paid off.
He is now interested in feeding himself......hmmm we will work on that!
Trent is constantly talking. Right now all I here is DA DA DA AHHHH DADA DA DADA....you get the idea! Every now and then I here AAAAOOOOOGA! But mainly DADA, maybe I have been working too much. :(
Still no teeth. Lots of teething, but no sign of a tooth.
We know the teething is uncomfortable, but I keep reminding him that it will be well worth it~ (as he tries to grab my tortilla chip)!
I am thinking walking will come before his first tooth makes its appearance.
He is becoming a little copy-cat.
He shakes his head "no" to everything.
Still LOVES the animals and going outside.
Now things are Rockin'!

Too Excited!!

As children the excitement we feel at Christmas is different than any other time.  The good food, fun music, great movies, playing with our family and knowing that Santa will visit our homes and bring us lots of goodies.
All of this leads up to a very magical experience that none of us ever forget.
For many families this also leads to little sleep.
I figured that Trent is still too young to let all of this affect him.  But, I think I was wrong.
Beginning on Christmas eve eve he didn't want to sleep!  But, he was in a great mood the entire time.  He wasn't fussy, he just wanted to play.  He wanted to be involved, it was like he was feeling the excitment and love that the season brought to our home.
He reminded me of that commercial were the little boy is soon going to Disney and he and his dad agree that they are "TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!"
Finally on Christmas eve morning while Jake and I were getting ready to celebrate together with Trent I put him in his crib on his back to go and make him a bottle.  He was bright eyed and not too crabby, I thought just hungry.
So, I went to the kitchen to warm his bottle and not 30 seconds later he was quiet.
I thought he was just looking at his adorable reindeer socks and calmly waiting, but when I returned a mere 3 minutes later, this is what I found......

Sound asleep.......
This made me realize two things,

1. He CAN sleep on his back.
2. I have been covering the wrong end!
