$$ & Imagination

One thing I really
love
about boys?
Their imaginations!
I was talking to Trent
about the
March Madness bracket
and he decided
he wanted to join in.
So, we sat down
and he filled out
a bracket on his own.
Earlier in the day
we had discussed $$.
We had been at WM
where he saw a bicycle he really wanted.
He also wanted to play games,
but Mom had no quarters.
We talked about all
the money he had been saving
for almost four years
in his piggy banks.
I told him
he could start bringing his own quarters
to play games
and even save them to
buy his own bike.
He LOVED the idea!
So, after filling out his bracket
I told him he could use his own
money to enter the contest.
He got very excited and ran
to get the money.
He handed it to me
and I proceeded to explain
that if he won, his money
would increase.
But, if he lost,
he got no money back.
He got upset and yelled
"But I need it for my bike!"
I was so
1. proud of him for wanting to save for something so big
and
2. empathetic to that pitiful sad face
that I
told him to put his money
away for the bike
and I fronted the money for the bracket.
So,
now he has been helping lots
around the house
to earn just a little more for that bike.
I love the help,
and he gets super excited about quarters!
A new bike is in the near future!
love, the rockinryans
