the bear awakes

This boy.....
didn't want to go to
his second practice....
he said it was
"too hot".
He drug his feet,
we told him
he couldn't quit already....
with tears in his eyes,
he went....
1.5 hours later
he came bounding
through the door.
The Bear was awake.
Something clicked.
He took down
over 10 kids
to win King of the Mat.
He tried on
his Singlet.
The rest is history....

These boys,
they never stop.
20 degrees?
Time for practice.

First meet.
Friday night weigh-in.
Early Sunday....
We have to learn the ropes together.
Trim nails, check skin, tape shoes...

find your team and warm up.

Find your match and mat #.
Wear your color.

Pin, take down.

Winner!

Gold!
Great Bend Novice.
1-7-18
Somehow he was put
2 weight classes over his own.
But, it didn't stop him.
He knew how to take down
his 60# brother.

At 53.8# he wrestled
in 58#.
And won gold.

I couldn't tell
this boy
enough times
how proud I was of him.
Not because he won gold,
but because
he was so brave.
He overcame his fears.
He went to practice.
He listened to his coaches.
He practiced at home.
He is forging his own path,
not following in his brothers steps.

my Seanie (cuddle) Bear
is awaking
into a
Brown Bear beast.
go Sean!
to be continued....
love, the rockinryans
