the elf and more.....

"The Elf on the Shelf"
was super popular
this year.
I saw many great ideas
for the Elf,
but wasn't sure about
having him as a guest
in our home.
Last year Sean
was too small to care
and Trent was
TERRIFIED
of him,
so I didn't know
if it would be worth
the risk
or not.
And, yes
I am kind of lazy
and thought
"ugh, another thing I would have
to do every night....."
BAD MAMA!!
So, I decided to give
the Elf
a short stint
in our home.
He arrived about 5 days
before Christmas.
He was there in the morning,
but the boys didn't
even notice him until
after nap time.
He brought Santa hats
and their new Christmas PJ's.
He also wrote a letter
explaining his presence.
In all that we do
for the Holiday season,
I want to
keep the true meaning alive.
So, in his letter
he talked about
Jesus, what Christmas means
and giving.
NOT just
having a fun
little Elf
in the house.
Not sure if any of that
registered,
but it
should always
be remembered.
When looking for
"Christmas PJ's"
Elf (which the boys named Reindeer)
was not happy with the choices.
But, when he came across
some Tractor PJ's,
he knew
those would make the boys happier
than other ones
with Santa or Trees.
And Reindeer was right,
they LOVED their
Tractor PJ's!
Reindeer was silly and fun.
He was caught eating candy,
climbing the tree,
scaling the ceiling fan
and playing with toys.
(he liked giraffes and balls too!)
They loved him
and enjoyed finding him
every morning.
I had a lot more fun
than I expected
playing Elf too!
Reindeer was also
a good reminder that
Santa/Jesus
is always watching!
Christmas Eve
at the Brownell house.
Cuddling boys!
We call our Brownell house
"the cabin".
We want the cabin
to be a special, relaxing get-away
for our family to connect.
One rule~
no cable, Internet, etc.
But....
they have found our
original Atari and Nintendo!
They love duck hunt.
They have never played
anything any more up-to-date,
so they think this is pretty high-tech!
Shhh...don't tell!
love, the rockinryans
